Kroger Happenings
Yesterday at the Kroger at 5116 N. Roxboro Rd, we had an *incident*. There was a yellow tag for Mrs. Smith deep dish apple pies reading 2/$6.00. I put 3 in my cart (since I had a 3 coupons for $1.00 off). I looked at the yellow tag more closely and realized the price had *expired* on 4/15/2006. Now, I am not a paid employee of Kroger, and I'm sure someone there has the job to make sure all prices are current, but I am a nice person so I take the tag to the customer service desk and tell the woman I have a *situation*. I explained that this was the price, the price was indeed outdated, but since it was there, would she please honor the price for the 3 pies. "Sure, no problem", she says. Great.
Around noon I step into check-out aisle 7 where Glennie, a white woman in her 60s works. Sometimes she is pleasant, but more often than not, she has an atitude. I don't think she likes her job or children. I don't like going in her line, but the cs manager had directed me to check-out 7 because the African-American woman there was the acting manager, but she checked out before I got there. I explain the story to Glennie and she shrugs...then scans it and says, well, this is the wrong pie. It doesn't match the price. Lovely. Maybe it doesn't, but the pies were right there by the yellow tag. I have 8 children and infinitely better things to do than come up with ways to scam Kroger. GMAB (give me a break). She stands there and says, "Well, what do you want me to do?" I say, call the manager. She does, and the manager honors the price. Noone, though, at any point apologizes for having the wrong price out to begin with.
We get to the end and there's no Kroger savings. I ask where they are and remark, perhaps she doesn't have my Kroger Plus card. Well, very smarmily, Glennie says, "Well, you didn't give it to me." Now, readers, I try very hard to be nicel It doesn't come as natural to me as to others, but I practice it and think I'm doing a pretty good job. So, I say, "Well, here it is now." Inwardly, I'm thinking, isn't it part of her training to greet me with, "Good morning, may I have your Kroger Plus card?" But, hey, what do I know? So...I give her the card and my savings show up and the story is over. NOT.
Sunday morning I look over my receipt and 2 of my coupons undr 50 cents are not doubled (the other ones are over 50 cents so I know they won't be and that of course, is fine). I see, too, that I was over-charged $1.00 on the 10 pounds of potatoes I bought ($4.50 instead of $3.50) and the FMV sausage I was overcharged by 50 cents on each for a total of $1.00/ This brings my overcharges to $2.90 approximately 3% of my bill.
I call the manager, Bill Williams or something like that. I asked hime when they stopped doubling coupons. He says they haven't, BUT if you scan the Kroger Plus card after the coupons are scanned, they will not be doubled. Lovely. I give him the 30 second version of yesterday and he says, (correctly), "What can I do to make it right". I, being a reasonsable person, ask for a check for $2.90. I hope it gets here in a timely manner.
So,I report the good with the bad. The other good is they have lovely flowers. Some of my prettiest flowers last year were from Kroger and yesterday I got a gorgeous New Zealand Impatiens potted plant and some lovely pink begonias and a purple/red fuschia plant. They're very nice.
Plus, my dh, and 2 oldest children only drink BigK diet Lemon Lime. They do not like HT brand. I do not shop at Food Lion because I think it's disgusting. It's like stepping back in time 20 or so years.
Have a pleasant day. I hope I don't have to post too often.
